High Voltage Transformers

by P. Hebden - Managing Director

Express Transformers and Controls have over 25 years experience in the design and manufacture of High Voltage transformers for the scientific industry where size or safety considerations often dictate the use of manufacturing methods which do not rely upon oil as the insulating medium.

Our designs use either Araldite or Polyurethane as an insulator.

We require information regarding the usual parameters, these include the primary voltage and the working potential of the Secondary windings, this is applicable for transformers which are developing nominal secondary voltages but the secondary winding is also sitting at a high potential say 20kVDC.

As long as the information includes the superimposed HV on each secondary and screens we can then design the transformer.

If you have any specific maximum dimensions please advise us on the initial enquiry.

The AC developing transformer size is governed by the voltage of the secondary. With AC developing, care has to be taken with the winding insulation which includes interlayer insulation where as on the DC isolation transformers only the potential between the high voltage and the earthy windings are important.
